F.A.Q.

How long are the lessons?

Each lesson is 30 minutes long. This can be altered if required.

How many lessons will I need?

That's a bit like asking how long is a piece of string? Some people have 1 or 2 lessons and then decide they understand what they need to do to improve. Some people I have taught for ten years or more, they enjoy the lessons, take exams and love going up through the grades.

Can I have a free consultation with you before I decide?

Unfortunately, I don't have time to give free consultations. I have kept the price of the lessons very low and they have only increased a couple of pounds in 30 years! This is so that my lessons are available to as many people as possible. Consequently I teach more people and have less time to give free advice. Most queries can easily be sorted in an email. Also if you wish to speak to me about your daughter or son please do so at the beginning of the lessons or during it as most times as one lesson ends another begins.

Do you give lessons n Zoom?

No, I use Skype and Whatsapp. If you live in my area which at the moment is Central Portugal, soon to be South Wales then I can come to you or you can come to me.

What happens if the internet connection fails?

If this happens and it does ocassionally, I do not charge for the lesson and we hold it over for the next week.

Do I need a printer to print out the exercises?

No, it is good if they can be printed out but when I took lessons many years ago we had to copy everything out by hand, it is brilliant handwriting practice and helps you learn the pieces.

Is there a discounted price if I pay for more lessons?

You will see on the dropdown menu on the payment page that is it slightly cheaper if you pay for three lessons in advance.

How is payment made?

Paypal is by far the easiest option but you can pay by bank transfer, please contact me for details.

How much notice to you need if I want to cancel without payment?

24 hours notice is required but there are of course exceptional circumstances where this doesn't apply.

I need to take a break for 2, 3 or more weeks, do I have to pay to keep my time slot?

No, people often decide to take a break, especially in the school holidays, just give me notice and I will hold it open for you.

Can I take exams?

Yes, I can enter pupils for online exams with Victoria College. You need a good internet connection or I can enter pupils at a public centre for LAMDA exams but these are only held three times a year. Anyone from the age of 4 – 104 can take exams in Speaking Verse and Prose, Reading aloud for Performance, Acting, Communication, Religious reading aloud etc.
